Halloween is just around the corner, and what better way to celebrate than with some pumpkin-y goodness? This week, we’ll discuss Pumpkin Cider‘s shy and unassuming cousin, Pumpkin Pie Lip Balm.
I love pumpkin spice everything, and I don’t care who knows it. If it’s pumpkin and/or spice, I’ve tried it: soda, tortilla chips, s’mores, gnocchi, gum, hummus… the list goes on and on and on. But pumpkin pie is the original pumpkin spice food, with its rich, custardy spiced pumpkin filling in a flaky, buttery crust, topped with dollops of sweet whipped cream. If you’re mouth isn’t watering right now, then I haven’t done my job. Pumpkin doesn’t try to be something it’s not – it’s not soda that tastes like pumpkin pie or pumpkin spice tortilla chips for dipping in pumpkin hummus (not that those things aren’t awesome). Pumpkin pie is pumpkin pie.

Pumpkin Pie Lip Balm is a bit like that. Unlike the amazingly ostentatious Pumpkin Cider Lip Balm, with its bold addition of crisp apples to the smooth pumpkin, Pumpkin Pie Lip Balm holds no surprises. Pumpkin Pie is pumpkin pie (that might be my new catchphrase). Its beautifully delicious flavor and smooth moisturizing formula is bound to please anyone, even the most pumpkin-spice resistant. Creamy, sweet, buttery, rich, and spicy… sounds like a description of me (apart from the rich bit).
Next week, we’ll discuss Poinsettia Body Balm, and just why an unscented flower like poinsettias would have their own scented balm. Don’t forget to check back in on Monday for my recipe for Tofu Pumpkin Pie (I know, weird, right?) with Easy Oil Pie Crust!
