As a native to the Washington, DC, area, it would only be fitting for me to pay homage to one of DC’s most beautiful tourist attractions.

To my deepest shame, I have only ever once seen the cherry blossoms at the Tidal Basin. This was probably around 20 years ago, and I still remember the fluffy pink and white flowers fluttering in the breezy twilight. Yeah, they get you feeling pretty poetic! Once again, I have failed to make it back to see them. At this point in the year, the blossoms have come and gone, but today is the Cherry Blossom Parade, and I hope that some of you reading this can attend.

I am lucky enough to have a cherry blossom tree (or, and ornamental Japanese cherry tree, if you prefer) in front of my house, as well as in front of most houses on my street. As lovely as it would be to go downtown to see the huge displays, it’s such a delight to see them just a few feet from my front door!

Cherry Blossom Lip Balm is a creation which… well, I had to create. That is, while there are cherry blossoms that have a fragrance, they are rare. I, personally, have never smelled one. Instead, I researched true cherry blossom fragrance and created my own blend. My version is a blend of fresh, sheer florals and a touch of sweet, juicy cherries, topped with hints of vanilla and almond. It’s fresh and sweet, yet still earthy and subtle.

Sunday is the LAST DAY to order within the US and receive your package by Easter! Next week, we’ll take a look at Peanut Butter Bunny Lip Balm, our final Easter item. Be sure to take a look at my Easter recipes for rice pie and pizza rustica, too!
