In my humble opinion, the most important part of any meal is the dessert. Outdoor dining is no exception.
When preparing for a cookout, there are certain items that I feel are mandatory. There must be burgers, in the form of my favorite veggie burgers and/or the greatest meatless burger on the market. Baked beans and potato salad are also essential. Corn and watermelon are preferable when sweet and in season. But the thing I look forward to the most comes once everyone is relaxing and the coals have turned from gray to red: s’mores.
I love s’mores. I make them all the time by toasting a marshmallow on a fork over a burner and sandwiching it between two graham cracker halves with some vegan milk chocolate (protip: put the chocolate on one half of the graham cracker and sit it *not too near* the burner you’re toasting the marshmallow over so it starts to get nice and melty). But nothing compares to preparing it over charcoal for that smoky touch.
S’mores Lip Balm is my interpretation of this magical summertime treat. Slightly smoky toasted marshmallow, creamy milk chocolate, and crunchy graham crackers. It’s sweet and distinctly summery without being fruity, and perfect to keep with you all year long to remind you of warmer days.
Next week, we’ll look at Tropical Body Balm, the first of three summery body balms (the other two will be in July and August).
