Autumn is almost upon us, school’s in session, and fall flavors return with September.
Early September is one of my favorite times of the year. The sound of a symphony of thousands of crickets reminds me of my childhood and waking up extra early the first morning of a new school year. The evenings are cooler, but the days remain warm. Everyone starts to feel anticipation for the snowball effect that constitutes the last few months of the year as stores fill with Halloween decorations and cinnamon-scented pinecones.
Apple Cinnamon Lip Balm is an amalgamation of all of those September feelings for me – the classic imagery of an apple for teacher, the warm flavors and scents to stave off the impending autumn chill. Crisp, sweet Gala apples and warm cinnamon, with a touch of spicy ginger and bitter orange are the perfect apéritif to the pumpkin spice that abounds this season.
Next week, we’ll deviate slightly (ok, greatly) from autumnal delights with Bacon Lip Balm, my first “weird” flavor and one of my most popular.
